The City of Gladstone partnered with the North Kansas City School District to provide a premier community center for their area residents. In addition to community and fitness amenities, the facility focused on aquatics, both competitive and recreational. The eight lane 25 yard competition pool includes seating for over 1,500 and is equipped with a jumbo-tron and a small underwater viewing area. The competitive area also has a large diving well, which is able to be used as a warm-up or cool-down area for athletes during major competitions. Also included in the facility is a pirate themed recreation area with a large pirate ship, water slide, additional water features and two lap lanes. Separated from the competition area by a wall of glass, this area can still be functional when the facility is hosting competitions.
